Two game winning streak for Lady Trojans

The Skyline College women’s basketball team beat Mendocino College in a non-conference game 46-41 on Dec. 1. They also beat Modesto College 57-46 last night. Their overall record so far in the season is 6-2.

Learning from mistakes, practicing harder for wins

The Skyline College women’s basketball team lost to Santa Rosa Junior College 52-46 on Tuesday Nov. 25. They are 3-2 in the season.

The Skyline College men’s basketball team lost to Merritt College 62-47 on Tuesday Nov. 25. They are 4-3 in the season.

The Skyline College women's soccer team played in Regional Playoffs on Nov. 22 and lost in the first round to Cosumnes River 3-1. Their overall record for the season was 13-8-1. They went 8-2 in conference. For more information, read the sports section in The Skyline View newspaper.

Close game ends in Skyline's favor

The Skyline College men's basketball team defeated Monterey Peninsula College 69-62 in a non-conference game on Friday Nov. 21. So far in the season they are 4-2.

Volleyball misses playoffs, but basketball suceeds

On the Nov. 12, the Skyline College women's volleyball team lost to Chabot College 3-0. The scores were 25-22, 25-21 and 25-22. They also lost to City College of San Francisco 3-0 on Nov. 19. The volleyball team finished their season with an overall record of 12-11 and conference record of 4-6.

The Skyline College women’s basketball team beat Ohlone College 62-54. Their overall record is 3-1 so far in the season.

The Skyline College men’s basketball team beat Merced College 84-59. They are 3-2 in the season so far.

The end for some, the beginning for others

The Skyline College men’s soccer team tied Ohlone 1-1 on Friday, Nov. 14. They finished the season of with a 3-6-5 conference record and a 7-8-6 overall record.

The Skyline College women’s soccer team beat Evergreen 3-0 on Friday, Nov. 14 . Their conference record is 11-2 and their overall record is 13-7-1. The women's team finished 15th out of 36 teams which means they have made the playoffs. For more information on Regionals and the standings, go to California Community College Soccer News.

The Skyline College women's basketball team beat College of Marin 67-31 on Friday, Nov. 14. Their record is 3-1.

The Skyline College men’s basketball team also beat College of Marin 107-70 on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Their record is 1-2.

The Skyline College women's volleyball team lost to Chabot on Wednesday, Nov. 12. They are 4-5 in conference and 12-10 overall.

Coming close to the end of the soccer season

The Skyline College women’s soccer team defeated City College of San Francisco 5-0 on Nov.11. They are 7-2 in conference and 12-7-1 overall. The Trojans scored three times in the first half. Jessica Portillo scored twice, and Isharene Malave scored her 13th goal of the season. Taylor Hill and Marie Torres scored in the second half which resulted in 5-0 victory.

The Skyline College men’s soccer team lost to Evergreen Valley 3-1. They are 3-6-4 in conference and 7-8-5 overall. Brad Kotlar was able to get one in the back of the net as Craig Dillie set him up for the shot. Overall, the Trojans couldn't take complete control of the game which ended in a loss.

Basketball season has begun!

The Skyline basketball teams have started up again!

On Friday, Nov. 7, the women’s basketball team lost to Butte 72-68. The men’s team also played on Nov.7 and lost to Riverside 74-55.

On Saturday, Nov. 10th, the men’s basketball team lost to Monterey Peninsula College 93-82 in the San Jose Tournament. Their overall record so far is 0-2.

The women’s basketball team beat College of the Redwoods at the Cosumnes River Tournament 67-64 on Saturday, Nov. 10th. On Sunday, Nov. 11th, the women’s team took on American River at the Consumnes River Tournament and beat them 68-56. They are 2-1 for the season.

The wrestling results are in!
The Skyline wrestling team took on conference rivals, Chabot College and West Valley College, and beat both teams putting Skyline in 2nd place in the Coast Conference.

On Oct. 22, the Skyline wrestling team defeated Chabot College, 28-17 with two key pins by Sophmores Sergio Valdez and Matt Schug.

On Oct. 24, the wrestling team beat West Valley College 24-22. Skyline was led by Joe Buttram grabbed a pin in his match against Tim Caspray. Jairo Rodriguez also grabbed a win, which lead the Trojans in a 8-7 victory. These two wins put Skyline at 5-6-1 in dual meets.

The Skyline men's soccer team beat Gavilan College 1-0 on Nov, 7. In conference they are 3-5-4 and 7-7-5 overall. The women’s soccer team also played on Nov.7, but lost to DeAnza 5-1 puttin their records at 6-2 in conference and 11-7-1 overall.

On Nov. 5, the Skyline volleyball team beat Monterey Peninsula College 3-2. The scores being 25-23, 14-25, 25-18, and 15-12. They also won on Nov. 7 against the Alumni 3-1 (25-6, 25-16, and 26-24). They are 13-8 overall and 4-4 in conference.

Soccer victories!

The Skyline men's soccer team beat Mission College 4-0 yesturday Oct. 28. Craig Dillie scored twice. Jose Lanza scored. Oscar Rodriguez had three assists. Goalkeeper Kevin Artiga took the shutout. Everyone contributed to the win. Their overall record is 6-6-5 and 2-4-4 in conference.

The Skyline women's team also won in their game yesturday against Las Positas College, 2-1. Isharene Malave scored twice. Goalkeeper Marie Torres had several saves. Simone Torres had an assist. Their overall record is 9-6-1 and 8-1-0 in conference.

The Skyline volleyball team plays tonight Oct. 29 against Monterey Peninsula College at 6:30 p.m. in the gym!

Skyline in a slump?

The Skyline men's soccer team lost to West Valley College 5-0 in a away game on Oct. 21. In conference they're 1-4-3 and overall they're 5-6-4.

The Skyline women's soccer was also on the road on Oct. 21 in Fremont where they lost to Ohlone College 2-1. The women’s team also played on Oct. 24 and lost in a non-conference game to Los Medanos College 3-0. They are 8-6-1 overall.

The Skyline volleyball team lost to City College of San Francisco 3-1 on Oct. 24. The scores of the game were 25-23, 17-25, 25-20 and 25-22 . Their overall record is 10-7 and 2-3 in conference.

Win, tie, and a loss.

Yesturday afternoon, Skyline's women soccer team beat Cabrillo College 1-0. There overall record is 8-4-1 and 4-1 in conference.

Also yesturday afternoon, the Skyline men’s soccer team tied Cabrillo College 1-1. They are 5-5-4 overall and 1-3-3 in conference.

The Skyline volleyball team lost to Chabot College last night 3-0 (25-20, 25-20 and 25-19). Their overall record is 9-5 and 2-2 in conference.

Go support!

The Skyline women's soccer team has been fighting hard for their wins on the road. They beat West Valley 1-0 on Oct. 10th. On Oct. 14th, they went down to Hayward and defeated Chabot College 4-3. Sophomore, Jessica Portillo, scored twice and had an assist. Freshman, Amanda Downing, scored early in the second half putting the score at 3-2. Freshman goalkeeper, Marie Torres, had made numerous saves holding the lead for Skyline.

The Skyline men's soccer team lost to 1-0 against Hartnell College on Oct. 10th. But, on Oct. 15th, the Trojans stepped up their game and beat De Anza College 3-2.

The Skyline women's volleyball team lost to Foothill 3-0 on Oct.15th. The score were 25-22, 25-18, 25-14. Their overall record is 9-4 and 2-1 in conference.

The Skyline men's wrestling team lost to Fresno City College 42-9. According to Skyline's assistant head coach, Jeff Silveira, Skyline did very well considering Fresno City College is ranked third in state.

Go support! The men's and women's soccer team both have a game down on the Skyline soccer field today, Oct. 17th. The volleyball team has a game tonight at 6:30 p.m. against Chabot College in the Skyline gym.

Skyline sports heading in the right direction

The Skyline women’s soccer team headed down to San Jose to play Evergreen Valley College on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Skyline proved they’re able to dominant, even when they aren’t on their own turf. Skyline beat Evergreen Valley 4-0.

Jennifer Alvarez, Amanda Downing, Melissa Drosi, and Isharene Malave each scored a goal each. Amanda Downing and Melissa Drosi also had an assist each. Faye Zink, goalkeeper, played all 90 minutes and made two saves. It was a clean game, no yellow or red cards were given. As of now, their overall record is 5-4-1 and their conference record is 4-1.

The Skyline College men’s soccer team also had an away game on Tuesday, Oct. 7. They traveled down to Redwood City where they faced the Cañada Colts. They weren’t unsuccessful, but when you have the mindset of winning, a tie just doesn’t feel good enough. Skyline tied Cañada 1-1.

The Skyline College volleyball team has won there last three games. On Saturday Sept. 27, they beat San Jose City College 3-2. The scores were 18-25, 25-13, 25-23, 15-25, and 15-9. On Friday Oct.3, Skyline took on Monterey Peninsula College and dominated. They beat them 3-1. Those scores being 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, and 25-21. Skyline took on De Anza College on Wednesday Oct.8, and came up on top. They beat De Anza 3-1. The scores were 25-22, 20-25, 26-24, and 25-20.

Skyline College's wrestling team has one out of their two home games for the season coming up! It's on Wednesday Oct.15 at 7 p.m.

Double-header!

Both the Skyline men's and women's soccer team had a game on Friday Oct. 3rd.

The women's team beat City College of San Francisco 4-1. Overall they are 4-4 in the season and 3-1 in conference. The men's team tied Chabot College 0-0. There overall record is 4-4-2 and they are 0-2-1 in conference.

End of September, beginning of October

The Skyline wrestling team was on the road again on Wednesday Sept. 24th heading towards Lemore to face West Hills College. Unfortunately, Skyline wasn't successful and lost their first dual match with a score of 34-12.

The wrestling team was successful in the Modesto Invitational though, which took place on Saturday Sept. 27th. Sophomore Matt Schugg placed 4th, he went 4-2. Sophomore Sergio Valdez finished in a tie for 5th place. Valdez leads the team with a 10-4 mark. Overall, the team placed 8th out of 11 teams.

The Skyline men's soccer team lost to City College of San Francisco 3-0 on Friday Sept. 26th. The team tried to pick things up against Foothill on Tuesday Sept. 30th, but weren't able to achieve success, losing 3-0. Their overall record is currently 4-4-1.

The Skyline women's soccer team wasn't able to score against De Anza College on Tuesday Sept. 30th. They lost 2-0, their overall record is 3-4-1.

The Skyline volleyball team participated in the San Diego volleyball tournamnent on Saturday Sept. 27th. They played 3 games and 1 playoff game. The team finished in 6th place.

Updates from last weekend...and much more.

On Sept. 12th, The Skyline men's wrestling team tied Shasta College 21-21, but lost to Santa Rosa JC 30-12. During the Sac City College Tournament which happened on Sept. 20th, there was 10 teams and 16 brackets. Most of Skyline's wrestlers made the top 8.

Last weekend, the Skyline College volleyball team had a very busy schedule. The Lady Trojans had an away game on Friday, Sept. 19th against Hartnell College. Skyline was successful, winning three sets to one. The scores of that game were 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9.

On Saturday, Sept. 20th the volleyball team hosted the Fog City Classic. This tournament included four teams: Skyline, Mendocino, Cosumnes River, and College of Alameda.

In Fog City Classic, Skyline won all three games! They beat Mendocino College 3 sets to 1. The scores were 25-17, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20. Skyline won three to none against Consumnes River. The scores for that game were 25-18, 26-14, 25-21. Skyline also beat College of Alameda three sets to none. Those scores being 25-8, 25-12, 25-15.

On Sept. 27, the Skyline volleyball team will be heading down to the San Diego City tournament tomorrow.

Talking about successful teamwork, the Skyline College women's soccer team has won their first two conference games. They beat Los Positas 4-1 on Sept. 19th. They also took control in the game against rival school, Canada beating them 5-1. The women's soccer team has their next three games at home.

The men's soccer team won 1-0 against Contra Costa College on Sept. 19th. But they lost against Santa Rosa 1-0 on Sept. 23rd. The men's team starts their conference today! The game against City College of San Francisco starts in about 5 mins. down on the Skyline soccer field at 2 p.m today.

WELCOME SKYLINE STUDENTS!!!

Welcome.


My name is Natalie Christine. I was the sports editor for The Skyline View last semester. This semester, I wanted to try something a little different and I am now one of the co-production editors. However, I love sports! and will continue to write them.

This specific blog is to update YOU (the reader) of how our Skyline College Sports teams are doing. You will get the latest scores and if avaliable, small summaries of the games.


On Sept. 12th, the men's soccer team tied Foothill College 0-0 in a non-conference game. The women's volleyball team lost to Reedley, three sets to none. The scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-16.


Most recently on Sept. 16th, the men's soccer team in a non-conference game beat Modesto Junior College 1-0. They are currently 3-1-1 for the season.


Today Sept. 19th, the women's soccer team has a home game against Las Positas College at 2 p.m. The men's soccer team also has a home game today against Santa Rosa at 4 p.m. Come out and support you student-athletes!
